SAVE YOURSELF A SERVICE CALL ON SPA/HOT TUB START-UP!!
- Open spa cabinet, locate heater tube (typically silver in color and approximately one foot long. On each end there is a locknut, crack one of the locknuts after filling spa. Allow water to drip out of the loosened locknut. The spa/hot tub should be nearly full at this point.
- With spa/hot tub filled completely, let drips come out of the locknut for two-to-three minutes. This helps prevent system air lock, dry-firing of the heating element and harming/overheating the pump.
- Do not put the cabinet back on yet; first, turn on the pump(s) and observe the pump(s) for leaks. The place to look for leaks on the pump is on the shaft, between the motor and wet end. When all looks good, secure the cabinet back in place.
- Then turn up the temperature, wait for the spa/hot tub to heat, add your chemicals in the proper sequence and enjoy!
